This was written for the Australian String Quartet. It is an exploration of the music from their Vanguard program and addresses music by Beethoven, Korngold and Harry Sdraulig. I provide listening notes for the audience, and explore how each composer is ‘on the cutting edge’ of string quartet writing. ASQ toured Vanguard across Australia in June-July 2024.
